Foam rolling is a very quick and efficient way to massages your entire body and is an incredible self myofascial release tool (more on that later). Foam rollers are a great tool to use for self massage and overall muscle health.
To use a foam roller, you basically lay on top of it and sways back and forth. Its that simple. You can also pause on tight muscles to put extra pressure on specific tight muscles, but the basic premise of foam rolling is to essentially use your bodyweight against a piece of foam to roll out, or massage your muscles.
The massaging action of foam rolling brings fresh blood and nutrients to the muscles. This causes you to experience such benefits as relaxation, increased circulation, decreased muscle pain, decrease in muscle tightness, reduced recovery times after workouts, etc.

Scientific Basis of Foam Rolling
If you are looking for proof of these claims, there are some studies that give precedence to the thousands of people who strongly believe in foam rollers. However, since muscle rollers and foam rollers are so new in the marketplace, there aren’t bounds of studies that we can point to, that prove what most of us already know; that foam rollers are amazing.
Our scientific community also is not very aware, or concerned with trigger points (more on that later) and muscle health in general. So it makes sense there aren’t too many studies done on foam rolling. After all, you can’t patent the idea of massaging your muscles, but you can patent pain killers and other drugs that reduce certain symptoms that foam rolling seems to naturally address.
The fact is that foam rollers have exploded in growth. This gives the idea of foam rolling some credibility. How would it catch on if it didn’t offer some benefit? Thousands of people have experienced first-hand, how transformative it can be. Are you ready to find out for yourself?
